Corrective Exercises and Functional Movement

corrective exercises and functional movement
We believe in teaching our clients to move properly. Whether you’re an athlete, have chronic pain, ongoing injuries or sit at a desk more often than you like, our goal is to help you have more efficiency in your movements.

Corrective exercises and functional movement training are essential for improving movement patterns, correcting imbalances, and preventing injuries. They also help individuals achieve better performance and quality of life.

Functional Movement & Bio-Mechanical Assessment

Our initial Functional Movement and Bio-Mechanical Assessment was designed to improve the way you move in your everyday life. We evaluate, assess and retrain movements that mimic daily activities, such as walking, squatting, bending, twisting, and lifting. Looking at the position of the joints and bones through these range of motions, we can determine if you are in proper alignment.

Joint Mobility Assessments

In addition to functional movements, we will also check for the mobility and stability of each of the major joints of the body. As we evaluate your mobility and functional movement patterns, we will demonstrate how to optimize your movement patterns.

Corrective Exercise Fundamentals

Corrective exercises, on the other hand, are designed to correct the imbalances found in your body during our assessment, and ultimately improve movement patterns. We create a program designed for you, and teach you how to properly perform the most essential exercises for strengthening your body.

You’ll learn how to perform a series of joint mobility and stability exercises targeting the major joints of the body to prevent potential issues before they become serious. This custom routine makes a great warm up for exercise or done as a general maintenance program to prevent injuries. These exercises focus on developing strength, balance, and flexibility, with an emphasis on correct technique and form.

How Can Corrective Exercises and Functional Movement Training Help Me?

We strongly believe in proper alignment, good posture and healthy movement patterns. Combined with massage therapy and acupuncture treatments, your body will become more efficient and you’ll feel great. These are a few ways our movement specialists can help you continue to move better.

Injury Prevention.

Injury Prevention: Corrective exercises help prevent injuries by addressing imbalances in the body. For example, if someone has tight hip flexors, it can cause lower back pain. By performing corrective exercises that stretch the hip flexors, the individual can prevent back pain and other related injuries.

Improved Performance.

Improved Performance: Functional movement training helps improve performance by training movements that are used in everyday life. By developing strength, balance, and flexibility in these movements, individuals become more efficient and can perform better in their sports. Even daily activities, such as carrying groceries or playing with your pet or children, becomes easier.

Better Quality of Life.

Better Quality of Life: Corrective exercises and functional movement training can improve overall quality of life. By addressing imbalances and improving movement patterns, individuals can reduce pain and discomfort, improve mobility and flexibility, and increase confidence in their ability to move.

Long-Term Health.

Long-Term Health: By preventing injuries and improving movement patterns, corrective exercises and functional movement training can promote long-term health. Individuals who practice these forms of exercise are less likely to experience chronic pain, arthritis, or other mobility issues as they age.

Corrective exercises and functional movement training are essential for improving movement patterns, correcting imbalances, and preventing injuries. They are also crucial for achieving better performance and quality of life. Incorporating these forms of exercise into your routine can help you move better, feel better, and live a healthier life.
