Causes of Knee Pain

Knee pain can be caused by many things. Maybe your knee pain is caused by tight muscles or tendons in your leg, hip or lower back. Or your IT band could be very tight causing a patellar tracking problem. You may have scar tissue inside the joint causing friction and a wearing down of the muscles, tendons and bones. You may even have damage to one of the ligaments of your knee (MCL, LCL, ACL, PCL), the meniscus or cartilage. And while we’ll do our best to help you avoid it, surgery may be necessary.

Why Choose Boulder Therapeutics?

We can help you! Our therapeutic treatments can help open your knee joint and free-up friction patterns affecting this damage. This may give your knee the time it needs to heal properly. We’ll review your posture and help assess the actual cause of your pain because it’s likely that your knee pain has been slowly building over time. We will also explain when to use ice or heat and will provide stretches & recommendations to help get you feeling better.

Our trained therapists will provide the right treatment for you. We’ll look at how your patella (knee cap) is moving and will check your muscles for imbalances. Then we’ll apply techniques such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, a series of muscle energy techniques, scar tissue release or active stretching & release.
