Matt began his journey into the healing arts through studying Health Psychology at the University of New Hampshire. He was fascinated by the mind body connection and what was possible through somatic therapy. He acquired a great deal of knowledge through many other trainings and certifications. He became proficient in Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, advanced Body Mechanics, Fascial Stretching. and Neuromuscular techniques and found great success working with these modalities, especially for neck and back pain. He is also trained in Prenatal massage.

Many years ago, Matt started practicing qigong meditation and Tai Chi Chuan. He went on to study Acupuncture and Chinese medicine and became a licensed Acupuncturist. Matt has found great success in treating patients with a mixture of acupuncture and Chinese bodywork, and is constantly amazed by the sometimes miraculous benefits of acupuncture as medicine. His acupuncture is heavily focused on both getting to the root cause of illness as well as well as pain relief and rehabilitation. His Wellness Acupuncture treatments focus on 5 Element Acupuncture. Matt’s Sports Acupuncture includes Trigger Point Dry Needling and Trigger Point Injections. Matt also offers vitamin and wellness injection therapy. For him, there is no better feeling than watching someone progress, feel better, and become more balanced.

His many years of experience, along with his numerous advanced trainings in Massage Therapy and Acupuncture, have helped him to become a very successful practitioner. He uses an integral approach to body work and wellness that helps people take a broader look at what they can do to live healthier lives.

“I cannot say enough good things about Matt Hudgens, who works at Boulder Therapeutics. Matt has multiple times fixed injuries of mine in just one session. That included a groin sprain and chronic foot pain that held on for two years after a sprain.

The first time I met Matt, I went to him on referral because I had been dealing with 8 years of chronic shoulder pain from an injury when I was 18. I had been to five different professionals over many years to try to get this issue fixed. Matt listened to the whole, long history of the injury, which I really appreciated because there were many re-injuries and compounding problems. In just three sessions, he got my shoulder feeling better than it had since the injury. Since then (it has been 4 years or so) I can do all of my activities–soccer, dance, backpacking–without shoulder pain. Before, hard cardio would make the whole shoulder hurt.

All I can say is I trust Matt to work on any injury and am always shocked at how quickly he gets results.”-Devon R.

“I am grateful for my time at Boulder Therapeutics working with Matt. He is incredibly knowledgeable about healing the human body through acupuncture, massage and herbal treatments. I went to Matt initially for a sports injury, however he was able to help me improve sleep, improve digestive issues, and decrease overall stress as well. I really appreciate his holistic approach and kind heart. I highly recommend working with Matt.”–Kathleen W.

“Matt is awesome. I have had probably a dozen appointments with him over the last year. He is extremely knowledgeable and can get to the root of the issue. I’ve seen him for sports massage, acupuncture, Myofascial release, dry needling, e-stim, few of which i knew to request but that Matt determined would be helpful for my recovery as an endurance runner. Can’t recommend him enough!”–Natalie B.

“Matt is an incredible therapist. Super knowledgeable and skilled at acupuncture, acupressure, dry needling and much more. His treatments have really helped alleviate some chronic lower back and neck pain. And so quickly! I felt much better already after just one session. Highly recommend.” – Michele M.

“Matt was phenomenal. Informative, calm, friendly. I barely felt the acupuncture needles when they went in, but he definitely hit the right areas and released a lot of tension.”-Ari G.

“Boulder Therapeutics has a real team of experts. I initially came in February 2023 because I had what had become debilitating pain on my left shoulder. It had started 3 months earlier and got progressively much worse. It was determined I had frozen shoulder, which is very painful. I went to see Matt H. and he is incredibly knowledgeable. After 2 sessions of a mixture of massage and acupuncture, I had zero pain and haven’t since – its now October! I am so grateful! Following that success I went back with the lower back I’ve been struggling with for 6-8 months, waking up in pain every night. It’s been a few sessions and it’s almost completely gone. I actually thought it was something I would have to live with, but again I’m amazed. I would obviously highly recommend Matt, he has certainly increased my quality of life this year!”-Sarah P.
