Bernie received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2013 and later received her massage certification through Denver School of Massage Therapy in 2016. Prior to becoming a massage therapist, she worked as an exercise specialist and as a collegiate cross country/track coach for University of Jamestown and Johnson and Wales University. She has also worked as a physical therapy aide in Steamboat. Her passion has always been to compassionately share her knowledge and experience to help others learn, heal, and grow.
Bernie is originally from Minnesota and went to University of Jamestown in North Dakota for her Bachelors degree. She studied Exercise science with an emphasis in coaching, and a minor in psychology. She began her work as an exercise specialist before graduating and quickly gained experience with fitness testing, group classes, cardiac stress tests, nutrition planning, and creating exercise plans for patients with chronic diseases.
Bernie also has over 20 years of competitive running experience, and two years of collegiate coaching experience in cross country and track. She understands the importance of prevention and rehabilitation in athletes and is very passionate about helping them achieve optimal performance through massage therapy. She specializes in Sports Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Swedish, and Deep Tissue. Her combination of experience, knowledge, and passion for helping others has helped many people with injuries, sports maintenance, post-operative massage, and chronic pain.
Experience: Bernie has been a competitive runner most of her life. She has coached collegiate running teams, worked as a physical therapy aide and has a degree in exercise science. She has worked in physical therapy clinics helping injured athletes and post-surgical clients and she believes in the multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare.
